Compensation: Hourly Rate of $12.00 (Outsourced).  Limited to no more than 20 hours per week with the possibility of up to 35 hours per week during peak times. 

The Front Desk Support Specialist provides administrative support for the Student Life Front Desk by providing customer service to students, staff, faculty, and visitors. Student Life is the hub for students at Santa Fe College. Services provided include ID card services, student organization support, Recreation Room, computer lab, Student Life Art Gallery, and the Evening Services Office. Student Life is comprised of Civic Engagement & Service, International Student Support & Advising, Student Activities, Student Government, Leadership Programs, Student Health Care Center, Student Life Business Office, and Student Life Marketing.

  • Provide a professional, helpful, welcoming atmosphere and a positive attitude by greeting, responding to, and directing visitors.
  • Accept, screen, and route telephone calls concerning activities and operations of the office, directing inquiries as appropriate and/or providing information.
  • Perform a variety of administrative tasks, to include but not limited to; data entry, printing, and submitting work orders.
  • Process payments for ID cards.
  • Assist in the issuance of ID cards, graphing calculators, carpool decals and other equipment as needed.
  • Assist with coordination of student employees.
  • Monitor Rec Room and computer lab activities and assist with enforcement of rules and policies.
  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Reports to: Director, Student Life

 

Required: HS diploma/GED plus two years of related work experience, or a combination of education and related work experience equal to two years, is required.

Other:  A criminal background check will be conducted.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:    

  • Ability to work successfully in a multi-cultural environment. 
  • Able to effectively handle confidential and proprietary information.
  • Communication – able to effectively communicate in a professional, diplomatic, empathetic, and tactful manner using preferred method and level as applicable to the job.
  • Customer Service – ability to respond promptly and courteously to all questions from students and faculty, demonstrating patience and persistence when helping students with little or no computer skills.
  • Independent work - able to work independently with limited supervision and able to self-motivate.
  • Organization & Time Management – able to plan, schedule, and organize tasks related to the job to achieve goals within or ahead of established time frames.
  • Systems & Software - proficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or relevant position software programs.
  • Team Orientation & Interpersonal – highly motivated team player with ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all levels within and external to the organization.
