Compensation: Salary is $36,335. Compensation package is comprised of many college paid benefits including health and life insurance, retirement, leave time, and tuition waivers for Santa Fe College and the University of Florida.

 

The Materials Specialist is responsible for coordinating the procurement of supplies, equipment, materials, and services for Facilities Services consistent with College rules and regulations.  This position works directly with vendors to obtain competitive pricing, orders parts and materials for maintenance, repair and operations, and processes orders to meet the basic needs of the department. Responsibilities include reviewing current Facilities Services agreements and contracts and soliciting quotes for operations and maintenance as needed. The position also provides guidance and assistance to Facilities Services for expenditures of college funds and works with department directors, managers, supervisors and coworkers on procuring goods and services.

  • Coordinate procurement of supplies, equipment, materials and services for Facilities Services consistent with College rules and regulations.

  • Work directly with vendors to obtain competitive pricing, order parts and materials for maintenance, repair and operations, and process orders to meet the basic needs of the department.

  • Solicit quotes for Facilities operations and maintenance as needed from vendors. 

  • Comply with the College’s purchasing guidelines and principles.

  • Provide guidance and assistance to Facilities Services for expenditures of college funds.

  • Review various invoices for compliance with existing contracts.

  • Communicate with directors, managers, supervisors and coworkers the process relating to the procurement of goods and services.

  • Manage the department’s uniform service contract.

  • Maintain departmental Safety Data Sheet repository in conjunction with the college’s Safety Coordinator and with support from department supervisors.

  • Manage the campus-wide tracking and collection of specific non-medical universal and hazardous waste items in coordination with Central Receiving; schedule pickup and delivery services.

  • Compile and maintain various purchasing-related reports as needed.

  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Business Manager

Required: Associate degree and four years of related work experience or a combination of completed education and/or related work experience equal to six years.

Additional Requirements:  A criminal background check will be conducted.

Preferred:  Purchasing experience for a large facility.

  • Proven accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ethics – able to demonstrate integrity, professionalism, civility, and a high degree of ethics in all job-related actions.
