Compensation: Starting salary of $41,650 - $49,980  as per the Santa Fe College Salary Schedule.  Promotional placement is not limited to the posted salary range maximum.  Compensation package is comprised of many college paid benefits including health and life insurance, retirement, leave time, and tuition waivers for Santa Fe College and the University of Florida.

The Office for Finance is seeking a Coordinator for Property and Plant Fund Accounting who will report to the Assistant Comptroller. This position is responsible for recommending, implementing, and managing approved control procedures and processes related to the plant fund to ensure compliance with college rules, the laws of the State of Florida, and the rules and regulations of other jurisdictions including Government Accounting Standards (GASB). This position requires the application of generally accepted accounting principles to a variety of fiscal transactions while performing duties that include exercising professional judgment in formulating or assisting in the formulation of policies and procedures. Knowledge or the ability to learn the principles and practices of accounting is preferred to ensure reliable information is provided to the college community, Board of Trustees, state agencies, and other external sources. An understanding of internal operations of the college along with internal policies and procedures that effect the department are essential

The Coordinator of Property & Plant Fund is a highly motivated self-starter with the ability to deliver a high level of interactive customer service, develop and maintain collaborative relationships inside and outside the College, manage multiple tasks simultaneously with high levels of accuracy and achieve goals within or ahead of established time frames.  The successful candidate must be able to prioritize effectively, be analytical, possess a keen attention to detail, as well as possess proficient computer skills using the Microsoft Suite of Office Applications, particularly Excel and Word.  An analytical aptitude with problem solving and critical thinking skills while being results oriented is essential to this position.  The Coordinator must be able to work with staff at all levels within a diverse, multi-cultural, collaborative environment.

  • Oversee accurate and timely general ledger accounting functions and financial activities relating to the College plant funds including, but not limited to Unexpended Plant Fund, Retirement of Indebtedness Fund, and Investment in Plant Fund.

  • Control and maintain property system to assure appropriate records for tangible property and physical plant owned by the college.

  • Responsible for the College’s Property Records to ensure proper capitalization and assignment of capital assets.

  • Responsible for reporting to the State as it relates to construction appropriations and the unexpended plant fund.

  • Assure adequate control of property and physical plant by managing the record keeping functions and scheduling, coordinating and reconciling physical inventories and plant subsidiaries.

  • Coordinate the transfer, survey and physical inventory of tangible property. Analyzes, researches, reports, and resolves discrepancies concerning capitalized and attractive property.

  • Design and control necessary forms and supporting processes for proper functioning of the property and physical plant control system.

  • Oversees day-to-day construction and property financial transactions. Analyzes, researched, and resolves construction project questions.  Prepares reports and schedules as they relate to construction projects.

  • Schedule, lead, and maintain minutes of property survey committee meetings.

  • Supervise staff assisting with physical inventory.

  • Prepare various schedules and notes required for preparation of the college’s annual financial reports.

  • Develops training materials for inventory of capitalized assets and attractive property. Conducts training sessions discussing property procedures to college community including New Employee orientations.

  • Assist with internal audits

  • Other duties as assigned by Assistant Comptroller.

Reports to: Assistant Comptroller, Office for Finance

Required: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or closely related business major with two (2) years of experience working in accounting or a related financial field is required. Must be proficient in windows-based computer applications, especially with spreadsheet and word processing. Must have good oral and written communication skills, be self-motivated, organized, and have good problem solving abilities.

Additional Requirements:  A criminal background check will be conducted.

Preferred:  A Master’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting. Experience in accounting processes and preparation of Government Accounting Standards (GASB) financial statements. Experience in higher education administration is beneficial with skill in midlevel administration preferred.

  • Systems & Software - proficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or relevant position software programs.

  • Detail Oriented  - Proven accuracy and attention to detail.
