Compensation: Starting salary based on rank and applicable steps as per the Salary Schedule.  Promotional placement is not limited to posted salary range maximum. Santa Fe College’s Business Programs offers a variety of degree and certificate programs to accommodate the business career goals of a diverse student body.  Business Programs is seeking a full-time continuing contract instructor to promote and encourage student success in business through quality instruction, as well as leadership in curriculum design and delivery of coursework for SF’s Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Management (BAS-OM) program.

Under general supervision, the Assistant Professor, Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Management will develop, prepare, and teach courses which may include lower-division, pre-professional business coursework, and upper-division courses including Principles of Management, Entrepreneurship, Strategic Management, as well as Management Seminar/Capstone courses.  Faculty may be assigned to SF’s main Northwest campus or housed at any of the College’s six educational centers.  Course offerings within Business Programs may be taught during the day, evening, or online, as well as using other distance learning formats.  Course plans for the Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Management most likely will be taught online.  It is expected for the Assistant Professor, Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Management to be comfortable utilizing an online learning management system.  Business Programs full-time faculty have a primary nine (9) month contract based on teaching 15 credit hours in the fall and 15 credit hours in the spring; teaching opportunities beyond contractual obligations, including during the summer may be available for additional compensation based upon departmental need.

  • Plan, organize and teach organizational management coursework that will optimize student access and success.
  • Collaborate with other faculty and staff within the department to develop, evaluate, revise and enhance curriculum to ensure mastery of material.
  • Develop relationships within the community to enhance internship and job opportunities.
  • Develop, assess, and analyze student, course and program learning outcomes across courses within the BAS-OM program.
  • Provide and promote quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, student success and learning, student retention, as well as faculty professional development and scholarship.
  • Work with Advisors to counsel students on a regular basis to ensure students graduate in a timely manner.
  • Develop and implement technology based instructional components for all assigned classes.
  • Collaborate with the Director, department faculty and staff, as well as other college officials to assist with implementing college policies, objectives and functions in accordance with the SF mission, vision, goals, and strategic initiatives.
  • Participate in student orientation, departmental and faculty meetings, committee work, as well as service to the college as requested.
  • Work with Coordinator to keep OM-related websites current.
  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Reports to: Director, Business Programs

Required: A Master’s degree in Business Administration or Business Management, or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate course hours in Business Administration or Business Management is required.  This position also requires proficient computer skills, familiarity with the Microsoft Suite of Office Application and classroom technology skills.  A criminal background check will be conducted.

Preferred:  A Ph.D. or other doctoral credential is preferred, as is professional work experience and prior college teaching experience. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  The successful applicant must be willing to work a flexible schedule at multiple sites, including online, as well as possess strong, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.  The Assistant Professor must demonstrate the ability to work well with students, faculty and staff at all levels within a diverse, multi-cultural, collaborative environment.
